Garage & shop construction in Holly Springs & the Triangle

Detached, attached, and over-garage builds—engineered, permitted, and built to last.  Out of space but don’t want to move? A well-planned garage or shop gives you secure parking, real storage, and a clean place to work—without fighting the weather. We’re Branch Home Improvement, a family-run team with 26+ years in the Triangle, licensed and insured in NC, A+ BBB rated. We design, engineer, and build garages that look original to your home and pass inspections the first time.

What we build

    • Detached garages — 1-, 2-, or 3-car; RV/boat bay; dedicated shop bay
    • Attached garages — clean tie-ins, mudroom entries, code-required fire separation
    • Over-garage bonus rooms — office, studio, guest suite (with bath rough-ins if desired)
    • Workshops — wood/metal shops with power, task lighting, dust collection, and storage
    • Renovations & rebuilds — unsafe framing, failing slabs, door upgrades, insulation

We serve Holly Springs, Cary, Apex, Raleigh, Fuquay-Varina, and nearby.

How to get the perfect garage or shop

A great garage starts with the right plan for how you’ll use it—what you’ll park, build, and store. Use these quick guides to choose the specs that fit your life and budget.

Structure & slab

Your slab is the foundation of everything. We size thickness and thickened edges for the loads you’ll park (SUVs vs. trucks/RVs), add a vapor barrier to keep moisture down, and place control joints to manage cracking. Where allowed, we can add a gentle slope and a floor drain (or trench drain at the door) to make wash-downs easier. Cost movers: slab size, thickness, drainage, and any cut/fill or soil correction.

Doors & access

We size insulated overhead doors to your vehicles—common widths are 8′ or 9′ single and 16′ double; we can go taller/wider for boats or RVs. High-lift tracks keep doors tight to the ceiling for car lifts or tall storage. Add a side man-door for quick access and smart openers you can control from your phone. Cost movers: door size/insulation, windows in doors, opener type, and track style.

Power & lighting

Shops work better with the right power. We plan a 60–200A subpanel, run 120/240V circuits for compressors, welders, table saws, or EV charging, and lay out outlets at the right height along walls and benches. For visibility, we spec bright, low-glare LED lighting plus task lights over benches and tools. Cost movers: panel size, number of dedicated circuits, and lighting count/height.

Comfort

If you’ll actually use the space year-round, plan for comfort. We insulate walls/ceilings, air-seal penetrations, and add a quiet mini-split for heat and AC (great control, efficient). Dehumidification helps with rust and finishes, and we can add fresh-air or exhaust where needed. Cost movers: insulation values, window/door packages, and HVAC capacity.

Storage & surfaces

We can build in attic trusses or lofts, overhead racks, and slatwall or plywood-lined walls you can screw into anywhere. Work benches get rugged tops and dedicated outlets. For floors, epoxy coatings resist chemicals and clean easily; we’ll prep the slab properly so coatings last. Cost movers: loft square footage, wall systems, and floor coating type.

Match the house

A garage that looks “original” comes down to the details. We match roof pitch, shingle/metal profiles, siding or brick, and trim so the new structure blends with your home. Windows and exterior doors are sized and styled to echo your existing architecture—not fight it. Cost movers: material matching (brick/stone vs. siding), custom trim profiles, and window/door packages.

Questions About Garage Construction?

Detached is simpler for setbacks and fire separation; attached is convenient and can add a mudroom. We’ll check your lot, HOA, and goals to recommend the best fit.

Most cars/trucks work with 8–9 ft wide doors; a 16 ft double door suits two cars. Boats/RVs may need taller or wider doors—tell us what you’ll park and we’ll size it.

Yes. We engineer the floor system, add stairs, and can rough-in a bath or kitchenette. Insulation and HVAC (often a mini-split) make it comfortable.

Many shops get a 100A subpanel with dedicated 120/240V circuits for tools, compressor, and EV charging. We’ll design the layout and load with you.

Yes. We prepare drawings, submit permits/HOA in Wake, Chatham, and Durham counties, and schedule inspections.

That’s the goal. We match rooflines, siding/brick/trim, and window/door styles so it looks like it’s always been there.
